STUDENT COUNCIL

BRIDGING THE CULTURES OF EDUCATION (BCOE)
BCOE is a student organization designed to increase awareness and promote multicultural education through student training, recruitment and educational community outreach by providing a support system to those students interested in pursuing a career in education. They provide a safe environment for multicultural dialogue for all College of Education students; educate students about local and global cultures in the spirit of equality, and link students to multicultural resources and skills through educational outreach. ASU BIG BROTHERS BIG SISTERS (ASU BBBS)
Little Moments. Big Magic. Big Brothers and Big Sisters are, foremost, friends to children: They share everyday activities, expand horizons, and experience the joy in even the simplest events. Within those little moments lies the big magic that a Big Brother or Big Sister brings to the life of a young person. MESA GROWN YOUR OWN
A partnership program between Mesa Public Schools, Mesa Community College, Chandler Gilbert Community College, ASU Main and ASU East, this program targets eligible Mesa high school graduates who are interested in acquiring a teaching degree. CAMP SPARKY
Camp Sparky is a non-profit student organization that helps children in the Greater Phoenix Area through education and mentoring. Camp Sparky members visit under-resourced elementary schools and provide daylong programs for fifth grade students. Camp Sparky programs show children that education is important and fun, as well as give ASU students an opportunity to gain experience working with children. PHI DELTA KAPPA
Phi Delta Kappa is an international association of professional educators whose mission is to promote quality education, with particular emphasis on publicly supported education. KAPPA DELTA PI
Kappa Delta Pi is an international honor society for educators. Two service projects are completed annually - "Books and Bears" provides primary school children with a teddy bear and book for the holidays, and another literacy project is featured in the spring. Invitations for membership are sent out bi-annually to College of Education students with a record of academic scholarship. ASSOCIATION FOR CHILDHOOD EDUCATION INTERNATIONAL (ACEI)

ARIZONA EDUCATION ASSOCIATION (AEA)
AEA serves as an advocate, supporting Arizona's public schools, improving the quality of public education through positive change, and improving the professional lives of teachers and school staff members. Membership is open to employees of all Arizona public schools, college and university employees, retired educators, and college students studying to be teachers. ASU Student Organizations
Various clubs and organizations at ASU focus on the special interests, academic needs, and individual developmental needs of students. The College of Education encourages students to get involved on campus, and build strong leadership skills. Here is a sample listing of links to get you started:
- Community Service Program - CSP provides the campus community with avenues to serve the Valley by increasing awareness of needs in the Valley and engaging students in worthwhile service while promoting a lifelong commitment to citizenship and social justice.
- Student Organization Resource Center - The SORC has information on hundreds of registered student organizations at Arizona State University.
- Multicultural Student Center - The Multicultural Student Center supports the transition, retention and graduation of multicultural students by engaging them in various support services and programs within a culturally affirming environment.
- Student Leadership Program - this resource provides links to leadership opportunities throughout the ASU campus.
