Teacher Education for Arizona Math and Science (TEAMS) was created at Arizona State University in 1996. In July, 2000, the program became a collaborative between Chandler Unified School District and Arizona State University. Initially funded by a National Science Foundation (NSF) grant through the ASU Arizona Collaborative for Excellence in the Preparation of Teachers (ACEPT), this program leads to Secondary School Certification (grades 7-12), Middle School Endorsement (grades 5-9), and a Masters Degree in Secondary Education.

If you would like to make a difference in the world through a career of service in teaching, this could be the most challenging and productive experience of your life. This program has attracted some of the most competent and committed prospective teachers imaginable with participants who represent an impressive array of scientific and technical backgrounds. This is an opportunity to become involved in the most rewarding career available .... teaching!

Mission Statement

We are committed to preparing quality science and mathematics teachers for American schools. Through the integration of learning theory, innovative teaching techniques, and technology into classroom instruction and field experiences, we will address the needs of schools that require highly trained science and mathematics teachers. We particularly encourage applications from individuals with strong science, mathematics, and technology backgrounds who are:

  • recent college graduates,
  • non-traditional students,
  • women and members of underrepresented groups, or
  • persons considering a mid-career change.
